Cropping system and management of Banana

Banana is known as "Apple of paradise".It is rich in carbohydrates.Lets discuss about cropping system of 🍌 banana.
1)First thing which is important for banana cultivation is the selection of suckers(banana is cultured through suckers).
Criteria for selection of banana suckers-
1)Suckers should be selected from disease free plantation.
2)Sword suckers (Suckers having narrow leaves and having large rhizome) should be selected.
3) Weight of the suckers should be 1.5-2.0 kg.

Preplanting treatment of suckers
1) Cleaning of corm(Removal of roots;We think that the old roots will be propagated and the tree will grow,but the roots will start rotting and nematodes will incorporate in the roots)
2) Dipping of Malbhog banana corm in 0.1% Bavistin solution for overnight.
3) Application of Carbofuran 3G(We know this as Furadan)@ 40g/corm at the corm.

Spacing
It differs depending upon the height of the variety
Dwarf(Jahaji)-1.8m×1.8m
Medium tall(Malbhog,Amritsagar,Barjahaji,Chenichampa)-2.1m×2.1m
Tall(Kachkal,Manohar)-2.4m×2.4m
Planting time
Best planting time is during March to April.
Manures and fertilizers.
Banana is a heavy feeder.The amount of 12kg decomposed cow dung is applied at the time of planting.N,P2O5 and K2O are applied at the rate of 110g,33g and 330g per plant in each cropping period.

Along with all this different cultural practices are-
*Mulching-Covering of interspaces in the banana field with organic material s.

*Irrigation-Basin method or drip irrigation during drought period.

*Denavelling-Tipping of male buds after completing the emergence of hands.This practice includes the removal of the black thing at the tip of the banana fruit.This will increase the size of the fruit.

*Bunch covering-Bunch should be covered for get rid of attack of pests.

*Earthing up-The base of the banana plant should be covered with soil during rainy season.
